El Camino

《El Camino》, Albano Hernández’s first solo exhibition in South Korea, foregrounds <The Shadow> as its central axis, positioning it not merely as a subject but as a fleeting event shaped by time, light, and perception. Emerging from a sustained process of walking and attentive observation,<The Shadow> at Gwangjucheon becomes the culmination of a conscious search rather than chance, an encounter refined through movement, duration, and sensitivity to the environment. The exhibition frames walking as both method and medium, echoing the tradition of the flâneur, where wandering transforms the urban landscape into an aesthetic experience. Surrounding this core, the paintings extend <The Shadow>’s presence through material exploration, incorporating recycled elements that emphasize transformation and sustainability. In this way, 《El Camino》 invites viewers to engage with art as a temporal and perceptual phenomenon, where the true work resides not only in what is seen, but in the path.

《El Camino》는 알바노 에르난데스의 한국 첫 개인전으로, <The Shadow>를 중심으로 전개된다. 여기서 <The Shadow>는 하나의 대상이 아니라, 시간과 빛, 그리고 지각 속에서 형성되는 순간적인 사건으로 제시된다. 광주천에서의 <The Shadow>는 지속적인 걷기와 세심한 관찰의 과정을 통해 형성된 결과로, 우연이 아닌 의식적인 탐색의 끝에서 도달한 하나의 장면이다. 이는 움직임과 시간의 축적, 그리고 환경에 대한 감각 속에서 정제된 만남이라 할 수 있다. 전시는 걷기를 작업의 방법이자 매체로 제시하며, 도시를 경험하는 방식을 새롭게 바라보게 한다. 이러한 접근은 배회를 통해 도시를 미적 경험으로 전환해온 플라뇌르의 전통을 떠올리게 한다. 한편 회화 작업은 물질적 실험을 통해 <The Shadow>의 존재를 확장한다. 재활용 재료를 활용한 화면은 변화와 지속가능성에 대한 작가의 관심을 드러낸다. 이처럼 《El Camino》는 예술을 시간적이고 지각적인 경험으로 제안하며, 작품은 눈에 보이는 결과뿐 아니라 그에 이르는 과정과 경로 속에서 완성된다는 점을 환기한다.
